Laura Valle, PhD, is a Principal Investigator at the Catalan Institute of Oncology, IDIBELL in Barcelona. Her research focuses on understanding the genetic causes of colorectal cancer predisposition, and on the clinical and molecular characterization of hereditary colorectal cancer and polyposis syndromes. Additionally, her team investigates early-onset colorectal cancer through genomic and epigenomic approaches.

Dr. Valle is actively involved in several national and international consortia dedicated to variant interpretation, causal gene discovery, clinical guidelines for hereditary and early-onset colorectal cancer, and advancing precision medicine.

Her contributions to the field have earned her several prestigious recognitions in her country, including the “Outstanding Young Researcher in Human Genetics” award (2012), L’Oréal-UNESCO “For Women in Science” (2013), and the “Best Female Researcher” recognition from the Spanish National Collaborative Network on Cancer Research (2020).
