Rashid Lui is a multi-board accredited physician (Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Medical Oncology, Advanced Internal Medicine) and a First Fellow in Genetics and Genomics (Medicine) in Hong Kong. He has clinical interests in gastrointestinal (GI) oncology, cancer genetics and gut microbiota modulation. Dr Lui established the GI Genetic and Genomic Clinic at PWH, where his team provides comprehensive care for patients with hereditary cancer syndromes.
He has received various accolades, including the Young Investigator’s Award (2nd Prize) at Asian Pacific Digestive Week 2018, the inaugural Dr Stanley Ho Medical Development Foundation Scholar at the Centre for Personalised Medicine (a partnership between St Anne’s College and the Centre for Human Genetics), University of Oxford, United Kingdom, Distinguished Young Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine in 2019, and the 8th Youth DreamMakers Award in 2023. He has previously represented Hong Kong in both the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Global Leadership Program – Asia Pacific and the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Leadership Generation Programme Asia. In 2025, he underwent a three-month observership at the Cancer Genetics Service, National Cancer Centre Singapore with the support of the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Foundation (JGHF) Short-term Training Fellowship.
Dr Lui has published in peer-reviewed journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, Nature Reviews Gastroenterology and Hepatology, JAMA Oncology, Gastroenterology and Gut, with a h-index of 24 (from Google Scholar). Internationally, he currently serves as the Founding Co-Chair, Emerging Leaders Committee, Asian Pacific Association of Gastroenterology (APAGE), Member, Young Members Committee, World Gastroenterology Organization (WGO), Member, Taskforce on Quality of Colonoscopy, World Endoscopy Organization (WEO), Member, Asia Pacific Working Group on Colorectal Cancer Screening, and Social Media Editor, Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (JGH). Locally, he is currently President, Hong Kong Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (HKASLD), Founding Vice President, Hong Kong Society of Digestive Oncology (HKSDO) and Chair, Public Affairs Committee of the Hong Kong Society of Gastroenterology (HKSGE).
