Dr. Aysel Ahadova is working as a senior scientist at the Department of Applied Tumor Biology, Heidelberg University Hospital, Germany. She graduated from Azerbaijan Medical University in 2011 and came to Germany to work on her doctoral thesis at Heidelberg University Hospital under the supervision of Prof. Magnus von Knebel Doeberitz. Her research mainly focuses on microsatellite instability and its consequences for tumor development and progression.
One particular topic of her research is colorectal carcinogenesis in Lynch syndrome. Aysel works on revealing the molecular nature of Lynch syndrome-associated cancers in order to improve the therapeutic and preventive options for patients with hereditary cancer predisposition. Currently she is leading several national and international research projects related to Lynch syndrome carcinogenesis and immune biology.
She is also passionate about science communication and has great interest in presenting scientific advances to the general public an easily understandable way.
