Welcome Message

Welcome to Singapore, Selamat Datang, 欢迎, வருக வருக

On behalf of InSIGHT, we are delighted to invite you to the inaugural InSiGHT Asia meeting in Singapore, taking place from 4 – 7 March. The International Society for Gastrointestinal Hereditary Tumours (InSiGHT) is a global multidisciplinary scientific organisation. Our aim is to enhance the quality of care for patients and families affected by hereditary conditions that lead to gastrointestinal tumours. We are pleased that this meeting brings together the Singapore Society of Colorectal Surgeons (SCRS), the Singapore Society of Oncology (SSO), and the Gastroenterological Society of Singapore (GESS) to jointly co-organise and host this event.

There have been tremendous strides in understanding the role of genetics play in cancer development. Much of the progress has been led by consortia such as InSiGHT in advancing knowledge and clinical care for patients and families at risk of hereditary gastrointestinal tumours.  Through dedicated global research over the past five decades, InSiGHT has made strides in improving outcomes for families with Lynch syndrome, Familial Adenomatous Polyposis, Hereditary Diffuse Gastric Cancer and many others.

Singapore, along with several countries in the region, has recently launched precision medicine initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and access for patients and families. We hope that this conference will help bring together clinicians, researchers, nurses, caregivers and patients so that we can understand the challenges facing Asia and how we may advance the field together through collaborative education, research and shared clinical experience. This inaugural conference will bring together surgeons, gastroenterologists, oncologists, geneticists, genetic counsellors, nurses, researchers and policy makers from across Asia. We will invite countries from the region to share their current practice and clinical case challenges to better understand the clinical and research gaps unique to Asia.

On behalf of the InSiGHT organising committee, we warmly welcome you to this conference and look forward to fruitful days of scientific exchange!
